What DART 0.5MG is used for?

It is used in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) for men with an enlarged prostate to:

  • improve symptoms
  • reduce the risk of acute urinary retention (a complete blockage of urine flow)
  • reduce the risk of the need for BPH-related surgery

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to dutasteride or any of the ingredients in this medicine
  • have liver problems
  • Do not take DART 0.5MG, if you are pregnant or could become pregnant since it may harm your unborn baby
  • If a woman who is pregnant with a male baby gets enough DART 0.5MG in her body by swallowing or touching DART 0.5MG, the male baby may be born with sex organs that are not normal
  • If a pregnant woman or woman of childbearing potential comes in contact with leaking DART 0.5MG, the contact area should be washed immediately with soap and water
  • DART 0.5MG is not prescribed to children and adolescents

  • Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements
  • Take DART 0.5MG once a day
  • Swallow DART 0.5MG as a whole
  • Do not crush or chew the medicine
  • You can take this medicine with or without food

If you take more DART 0.5MG

  • Talk to a doctor immediately if you take more DART 0.5MG

If you forget to take DART 0.5MG

  • If you miss a dose, you may take it later that day
  • Do not make up the missed dose by taking 2 doses the next day

If you stop taking DART 0.5MG

  • Do not stop taking DART 0.5MG without consulting your doctor
  • trouble getting or keeping an erection (impotence)
  • a decrease in sex drive (libido)
  • ejaculation problems
  • enlarged or painful breasts
  • depressed mood 
  • reduction in sperm count, semen volume and sperm movement
  • You should not donate blood while taking DART 0.5MG or for 6 months after you have stopped DART 0.5MG. This is important to prevent pregnant women from receiving DART 0.5MG through blood transfusions
