What is LIPTA 5MG?

  • LIPTA 5MG contains Linagliptin which belongs to “Oral anti-diabetics” (which is used to treat high blood sugar levels)

What LIPTA 5MG is used for?

  • LIPTA 5MG work by helping the body to reduce the level of sugar in your blood
  • LIPTA 5MG is used for ‘type 2 diabetes’ in adults, if the disease cannot be adequately controlled with one oral Anti-diabetic medicine (metformin or sulphonylureas)
  • LIPTA 5MG may be used together with other anti-diabetic medicines e.g. metformin, sulphonylureas (e.g. glimepiride, glipizide), empagliflozin or insulin

Talk to your doctor before taking LIPTA 5MG, if you:

  • are allergic to linagliptin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
  • have had allergic reactions to any other anti-diabetics
  • have or have had a disease of the pancreas
  • have symptoms of acute pancreatitis, like persistent, severe stomach ache (abdominal pain)
  • It is unknown if LIPTA 5MG is harmful to the unborn child. Therefore, it is preferable to avoid using LIPTA 5MG if you are pregnant
  • If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby or are breast feeding, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • LIPTA 5MG is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years

Tell your doctor if you are taking,  

  • carbamazepine, phenobarbital or phenytoin used to control fits (seizures) or chronic pain
  • rifampicin- an antibiotic used to treat infections such as tuberculosis
  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
  • The recommended dose of this medicine is one 5 mg tablet once a day
  • You can take this medicine with or without food

If you take more

  • If you take more TLIPTA 5MG than you should consult your doctor immediately

If you forget to take

  • Take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Never take two doses on the same day

If you stop taking

  • Do not stop taking LIPTA 5MG without first consulting your doctor. Your blood sugar levels may increase when you stop taking LIPTA 5MG

The common side effects are,

  • low blood sugar
  • trembling
  • sweating
  • anxiety
  • blurred vision
  • tingling lips
  • paleness
  • mood change or confusion(hypoglycemia)
  • It is a medication used to treat diabetes mellitus type 2. It is generally less preferred than metformin and sulfonylureas as an initial treatment. It is used together with exercise and diet. It is not recommended in type 1 diabetes. It is taken by mouth.
  • Linagliptin belongs to a group of medicines called dipeptidylpeptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4 inhibitors) or gliptins. It's used to treat type 2 diabetes, which is caused by problems with a hormone in your body called insulin.
  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children
  • Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
  • Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
