What is LITHOSUN 300MG?

  • LITHOSUN 300MG contains lithium carbonate which belongs to mood-stabilizing agents

What LITHOSUN 300MG is used for?

It is used to,

  • treat manic episodes and as a long-term treatment of bipolar disorder

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

  • are allergic to Lithium or any of the ingredients in LITHOSUN 300MG or Lithium Citrate
  • have significant renal or cardiovascular disease
  • have severe debilitation or dehydration, or sodium depletion
  • LITHOSUN 300MG may cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman
  • It is excreted in human milk
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
  • Safety and effectiveness of LITHOSUN 300MG  in pediatric patients under 12 years of age have not been determined hence, its use in these patients is not recommended
  • LITHOSUN 300MG can make you sleepy. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or do other dangerous activities when you start taking LITHOSUN 300MG

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, especially:

  • methyldopa, phenytoin, or carbamazepine
  • acetazolamide, urea, xanthine preparations
  • alkalinizing agents such as sodium bicarbonate
  • iodide preparations, especially potassium iodide
  • calcium channel blocking agents
  • metronidazole
  • fluoxetine
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider
  • Your healthcare provider may change your LITHOSUN 300MG dose to make sure you are taking the dose that is right for you
  • Your healthcare provider will do certain blood tests before and while you take LITHOSUN 300MG

If you take more LITHOSUN 300MG

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have taken more LITHOSUN 300MG

If you forget to take LITHOSUN 300MG

  • Do not double your dose if a dose is missed. Talk with your healthcare provider if you miss a dose

If you stop taking LITHOSUN 300MG

  • Do not stop taking LITHOSUN 300MG suddenly without talking to your doctor
  • lithium toxicity marked by abnormal heartbeat, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, weak muscles, blurred vision, clumsiness, ear ringing
  • kidney problems marked polyuria
  • low levels of sodium (salt) in your blood (hyponatremia)
  • neurological problems marked by weakness, tiredness, fever, tremors, and confusion
  • Serotonin syndrome marked by agitation, seeing things that are not there, confusion, coma, rapid pulse, high or low blood pressure, dizziness or sweating, flushing or fever, tremors, stiff muscles, muscle twitching, become unstable, seizures or nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
  • thyroid problems marked by high calcium levels in your blood (hypercalcemia) and changes in your parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism)
  • heart problems marked by unexplained fainting or abnormal heartbeats
  • increased pressure in the brain and swelling in the eye (pseudotumor cerebri) that can cause vision problems or blindness
  • hand trembling, increased thirst, nausea and general discomfort
